This is a constant speed prop, and pitch was changed by pumping oil through the drive shaft into the cylindrical device protruding from the hub.

As oil went in, the cylinder would be pushed outwards, and it would pull on the circular ears attached to each blade, ultimately causing each blade to turn inside the hub.

The wings, prop, and empennage from the crash-landed O-46 no. 7 lay in front of the fuselage.
