The Yomeimon Gate:

This is referred to as the most gorgeous gate. It is called “Higurashi-mon” or “day spending gate”. It is considered so beautiful that one could spend a whole day here admiring it, and never be weary of looking at it.

A personal comment: As I observed the collection of intricate carvings that made up the total structure, I noted that one of the white pillars, beautifully carved, was installed upsidedown. I pointed this out to a member of the local management-security team. With a knowing smile he told me “The original builders of this structure installed it upside down, on purpose, so that the Gods wouldn’t think that they thought they were perfect”.

That quotation has been adapted to be a stand-by tool in my own project toolbox and has been quoted innumerable times to explain a glitch that may turn up in one of my projects.
