Editor's Introduction

Over a lifetime, I have met a number of people where our developing relationships spawned within me a desire to know more of their total life stories. Through the passing years some of these stories have come to light and others remain untold. In almost every case when the stories were brought to the surface, I often found myself inspired and reminded of my own early visions of what a full life could be. These encounters often provided me assistance in sorting out role models that would help redirect my own behavior, attitudes and goals in life.

Working with this RB-29 web site, I have encountered or been reminded of a number of individuals who have life stories that seem to contain unpublished lessons from life. It seems that if these stories were more widely shared, they would make good reference points for some members of later generations as they strive to give direction to their own lives in an ever-faster changing world.

With that in mind, I have asked some of these individuals to share with us their own autobiographical notes and comments, without any suggested boundaries as to their length and breadth. Their responses are included in this chapter of our web site. If, after reading these offerings, you feel moved to share stories of your own life experience or suggest the names of others who might provide historical enlightenment regarding the past and offer encouragement for the future, feel free to make your move and be in touch. Regardless of rank or station — aircrew, staff or support — appropriate personal history stories will be welcomed as are stories of service experiences recorded in other chapters of this web site.
