Chapter 7

Sharing Life's Experiences

Page 1 of 1 Page

“For many years I was reluctant to talk about my experiences or even allow myself to dwell upon them within my own thinking and recollection processes. Now that so many years have gone by, as I reflect on these experiences, I feel more comfortable with the memories and feel more willing to share them with interested listeners. So, what thoughts and conclusion do I have to pass on to younger generations?”

“For one thing, I think every high school senior should see ‘Saving Private Ryan.’ This film shows you exactly what it was like. It's as true as it can be. I share my experiences because I figure they may help someone.”

“A regret that I have is that I never wrote down the names and addresses of the buddies I traveled with across and around Europe, by sea, landing at Port Said in Egypt, then to Naples, Italy and then back to the U.S. after our release from Stalag IIIC. Being young, I never thought about it. When we went our separate ways. I never saw them again. Now I tell everyone who will listen to write down names and addresses of the important companions with whom you share such remarkable experiences. I keep hoping that I might meet them again.”
